Above Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik, CroatiaI arrived in Dubrovnik, Croatia in the evening, just after a huge rain storm had passed through.  I was meeting a friend in the city who had arrived earlier in the day.  He had arranged for a ride for me from the airport to our apartment he had rented.  Once I got there, we grabbed a quick dinner within the city and then crashed for the night.

Dubrovnik, CroatiaWe were up early the next day to start exploring the city.  We grabbed breakfast and arranged for a kayaking sunset tour at the end of the day.  Then we headed out of the city to catch a lift up the hillside behind the city for a spectacular view looking down on the city and Mediterranean Sea beyond her.

Dubrovnik, CroatiaAt the top, the view is pretty, but, if you walk down the little road, you’ll find a view from the side, without the railing in your way, no people around, and frankly, a much better view.  Just for a short walk down a road…

Dubrovnik, CroatiaWhen I went to pose on the edge for a panoramic photo, it turned out there was a lot of strong wind buffeting up the hillside.  An unsuspecting Marilyn Monroe moment that left me laughing.  I can’t help but look at that picture and remember happy times in the summer sun and wind!

Dubrovnik, CroatiaWe stopped for a little snack and drinks at the restaurant on the top.  Since the wind is so strong up there, they had blankets in all of the seats for keeping warm.  I enjoyed a lemonade while watching a rain storm pass by on the Mediterranean.  Eventually we caught the lift back down the hill to go and explore the city and walk its walls…
