The Biserica Valea Danului

The Biserica Valea DanuluiAs we piled back in the car after the gorgeous Mănăstirea Curtea de Argeş, we decided we had just enough daylight left to continue north to see one more little church in Valea Danului…

The Biserica Valea DanuluiThe Biserica Valea Danului, like the churches that had come before it, was not a disappointment.  Leading up to the church was a long stairway to the little entrance tower.

The Biserica Valea DanuluiThe entrance around the door was heavily painted with various saints and scenes.  I fell in love with this style of decorating churches back in Crete.  So many of the little old churches there had paintings of saints like this.

The Biserica Valea DanuluiInside the entrance/tower, on the side wall was this simple display.  Simplicity can be so beautiful and peaceful.

The Biserica Valea DanuluiThe little biserica, like the other churches, had saints painted around the top of it below the roof.  These stark white churches, with their golden saints are so beautiful and elegant.

The Cemetery at the Biserica Valea DanuluiThe cemetery behind the biserica was quite packed.  I gave it a quick glance over, snapped a shot, and decided to forego this one, so my traveling companions would not have to wait all evening for me…  Plus, we were starting to get quite hungry for a good dinner!

Gypsies? When we left the village, we spotted these guys out in a field.

Our Cute Little Bungalow for the NightHome for the night!  We stayed in this cute little bungalow (Cornul Vanatorolui Bungalows) with 3 beds for us (2 being a bunkbed).  It was so cute and charming, and all we needed to crash for the night.  Although, we either couldn’t figure out how to turn the light on in the bathroom, or it was broken.  Either way, we were too tired and didn’t care enough to try and get help for it!  Oh, and we paid a whopping total of $17 for this bungalow for the night…  For that price, I forgive them for the light!  We had dinner here, at their restaurant.  It was a Friday night and they had live music playing in the courtyard area, which was broken up with all of the outdoor seating areas for the bar and restaurant.  It was quite the lively atmosphere, with people getting up and dancing to some of the songs.  Plus the food was phenomenal!  I got boar pastrami, so amazingly good, perfectly seasoned.  A great way to end a very long and busy day!
